About the session
Using my own learning journey, I will highlight frequent misconceptions about accessibility and give resources to get better at it whatever your role is.
We'll see that:
- accessibility doesn't have to be hard and technical
- disability and the way people are affected is varied
- it's not just about interfaces and screen readers
- there's hardly ever a single fully accessible solution
- simulations are not enough
- you need to involve disabled people
- being a disabled person doesn't make you an accessibility expert
Participant takeaways:
- Better understanding of what people need to learn and do, to become better at accessibility
- Awareness of the usual misconceptions preventing people to really improve the accessibility of their design
- Resources to learn more after the session
